"From an Ancient Tradition"
 The native term "ayate" describes loose-woven products such as nets, bags, and various cloths from agave or century plant. As part of a living tradition that reaches back over 10000 years, the styles and techniques for these artifacts are as Mesoamerican culture itself.
  Cultivated in Mexico, the agave not only inspired the beginnings of agriculture, it was the well-spring of religion. The plant provided both needle and thread, fabric, furniture, baskets, mats, blankets, brushes, bridles, paper, soap, shelter, food, candy, drink, and medicine. Little wonder then that the Aztecs venerated the agave and personi-fied it as the goddess Mayahuel.
  From the hands of a native people and heart of a sacred tradition, the quality and value of the ayate has endured and will survive well into the future.

Onion Guide

- Yellow Onions are the most common and versatile variety. These pungent bulbs mellow when cooked and are great for soups, sauces and stews.

- White Onions are particularly sharp and juicy, which makes them an ideal accent for spicy dishes.

- Red Onions have a sweet bite, which is why they're commonly used raw in salads, sandwiches and burger.

- Sweet Onions, like vidalias, walla wallas and mauis are mild with a high sugar and water content. They're excellent on sandwiches when raw.

- Pearl Onions are perfect for pickling or tossing into the slow cooker to braise with meats.

- Cippolini Onions are larger, flatter and a bit sweeter that pearls. They can be a tad pricier, too, so do not waste them in soups and sauces. Their natural sugars make them exceptional for roasting until sweet and serving as a stand-alone side dish.

You can also serve any of these onions as side salad with sprinkle of sea salt. Onions are good accompanions for meat dishes.

Azeri Shepherd Salad

    This salad one of my favorites and I like it in any season and anytime with my main course food or separately with fresh baked bread or with dried rusk, but not sweetened. It's full of vitamins, digestive friendly and healthy salad. According to my knowledge, I can say that it was called "Shepherd Salad" because it's easy, takes less time and cost less for preparing, as all vegetables are chopped.
    I improved this salad a bit for taste of my husband and depends on the food. So I make it with two different ways.

                              Ingredients for Original Shepherd Salad:

  •  Fresh Cucumber;
  • Fresh Tomato;
  • Fresh Green Pepper;
  • Fresh Green Hot Pepper;
  • Fresh Vidalia Onion or Spring Onion;
  • Coriander/Cilantro;
  • Basil;
  • Salt.
    Just need to wash vegetables thoroughly, and cut them into medium pieces, add its salt, mix and it is ready to eat.

Ingredients of My Improved Shepherd Salad:
  • Fresh Cucumber;
  • Fresh Tomato;
  • Fresh Green Pepper;
  • Fresh Green Hot Pepper;
  • Fresh Vidalia Onion or Spring Onion;
  • Fresh Lettuce;
  • Coriander/Cilantro;
  • Parsley;
  • Fennel/Dill;
  • Basil;
  • Salt;
  • Grapeseed Oil.
    Here you've to wash all vegetables thoroughly again and cut them into small pieces, add its salt and mix. After mixing it add its oil and keep in refrigerator for 15-20 minutes and you can serve it.

    One more secret of this salad: You can add any of vegetables from recipe more or less for your taste and because of this I don't write how many cucumbers, tomatoes and etc. is necessary for making this salad. Enjoy your meal and be always healthy!!!

The Top Five Cancer-Causing Foods

1.Hot Dogs

Because they are high in nitrates, the Cancer Prevention Coalition advises that children eat no more than 12 hot dogs a month. If you can't live without hot dogs, buy those made without sodium nitrate.

2. Processed meats and Bacon

Also high in the same sodium nitrates found in hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats raise the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat in bacon also contributes to cancer.

3. Doughnuts

Doughnuts are cancer-causing double trouble.. First, they are made with white flour, sugar, and hydrogenated oils, then fried at high temperatures. Doughnuts, says Adams , may be the worst food you can possibly eat to raise your risk of cancer.

4. French fries

Like doughnuts, French fries are made with hydrogenated oils and then fried at high temperatures. They also contain cancer- causing acryl amides which occur during the frying process. They should be called cancer fries, not French fries, said Adams .

5. Chips, crackers, and cookies

All are usually made with white flour and sugar. Even the ones whose labels claim to be free of trans-fats generally contain small amounts of trans-fats.
